I remember the first time I did some double sided printing with my Canon printer. The other printers I had made you take the pages and turn them over to print on the other side. I started a double sided printing project with my Canon and when the page came out I started reaching for it when the printer sucked it back in to do the printing. What surprise! I, too, like the two paper trays. The rear tray is great for specialty papers like you noted. I have run some 252 gsm / .25mm thick cardstock through it with no problems.
