Hi all,

I'm taking this reply off the bug tracker since this isn't related to the bug.

I thought RT-replies are always from the maintainers?

There is only a very fine line between a maintainer and a user when it comes to PAR. And this is coming from both a maintainer AND a user :)

I'm more than half-serious. Roderich has been doing an incredible job at helping people, fixing bugs, and generally keeping the ball rolling for quite a while now. Some time back, I was doing a lot of that. Maybe in a half year, it'll be you or somebody else entirely?

The reason I'm putting it this way is because there's no explicit nor implied responsibility of maintaining the software. That's why the term maintainer, though not entirely wrong, may be misleading. Anybody fixing bugs is making a donation of his time.

The difference between the mailing list and the bug tracker is that in the latter, issues should be kept fairly separated. Otherwise it becomes extremely annoying to try and find out what the actual issue was and how it could be fixed.

I'm not saying the following is the case here, but let me add that in general, bug reports which are really help requests from users can become fairly problematic from a maintainer point of view. That's what the mailing list is for.

Best regards,
Steffen
