Hi, I see the last time I downloaded/compiled PAR was 2007... long time...

So I did keep reading the list, and so to get the latest pp, I downloaded PAR-Packer-1.014, and tried to make it. It failed to find IO/Compress/Gzip.pm

Alright, confession time: I'm using 32-bit Perl 5.8.8 on XP... because I have some C extensions that I wrote/debugged with 5.8.8, and I have no clue what it would take to get them to work with newer Perl, and I wanted to get a new version of my application (it's been running great since 2007!) with a new feature, and although I've gotten two new development machines since 2007, and didn't have Perl installed with all the packages, I thought the fastest track to the goal would be to use the Perl form 2007. But now I start to wonder.

So then I saw there was a newer version of IO-zlib than what is installed, but trying to ppm that gives me a "failed 401 authorization error" Is that because IO stuff has to be synced with the right version of Perl, or ???? I've no clue on this one.
