with todays d-i daily build, parted 1.7.1 is not able to show the resulting

The partitions show up just right inside partman though, which uses libparted.
Can you try with parted-1.8.0rc2 and see if the problem persists? We've
introduced a lot of fixes for Mac disklabels in what will be the 1.8.0
