Yes, this is a pain point for me as well, but note _some_ of the subprojects are already self-hosted here: https://gitea.com/gitea. Gitea itself is still ONLY mirrored there, waiting for some features to be completed before "owners" of the project (elected yearly by maintainers, with maintainers being a growing list of people only needing to get 4 PRs approved): https://github.com/go-gitea/gitea/issues/1029 The issue is unfortunately "locked", and Gitea devs community is not "easy" to reach (again: maintainers' choice to be on Discord, another proprietary platform). There's an IRC channel on Freenode though (#gitea) you can use.
