Dear GLC readers

In today’s GLC article, Ilan Strauss argues that large corporations
have been able to leverage globalisation and inefficient tax systems
to evade taxes in countries where they operate. This has been to the
detriment of labour, especially in least developed countries where
governments try to avoid killing ‘the goose which lays the golden egg
of investment’ by placing a higher burden on consumption and labour
income. Strauss calls for a unified tax system that would ensure that
international corporations are taxed in every country where they
operate.
