I did every thing you said and it doesn't work. I used WinZip, and your right, it has several folders. Under the lang, English is one of several choices. I added the voice file, but still no luck. Not sure what I am doing wrong. This file should be placed in the root directory of your unit. Off of the root diredctory you should have a .rockbox directory. If you don't have punctuations turned on with your speech, there is a period in front of rockbox. Under the .rockbox directory, there should be at least a langs directory. In the langs directory you should have the files english.lng and english.voice. Actually, if you use Winrar or Winzip to extract the archive you downloaded for your model to the root of your archos device, those folders along with a few others should already be there and all you have to add is the english.voice to the .rockbox/langs folder. Hope that helps... Now, I think I messed up when I copied the recorder file to the Archos. I'm not sure. Didn't you say you already had installed RockBox on your device? Basically, you are doing the same thing here, but using a later version, and installing an additional file called english.voice. I suggest you go to the web site given in the instructions and browse around there. I think you will find there are some good FAQS that may help you. Since the Voice stuff is still technically a beta version, there isn't a whole lot on using the voice menus, but once you get them installed, most of it is self evident. I just did this myself, and it worked great. I now have an Archos with talking menus. ---snip snip--- Hi. This seems to be somewhat on topic, and I've received a few requests to send this info, so I'll send it to the list. To activate the talking menus, you first need to download the daily build of RockBox. This is not the stable version 2.2, but a later build, and is available at http://rockbox.haxx.se/daily.shtml Make sure to download the build for your unit, whether Player, Recorder, FM Recorder, or Recorder V2. Then install it as you would any other version of RockBox. "How?" Make a .RockBox directory on your Archos, expand the zip file into that .RockBox directory, and copy the archos.mod file (player), or ajbrec.ajz (recorders), to the root of your archos. "Again, how do I do this?" Now download the english.voice file from http://joerg.hohensohn.bei.t-online.de/archos/speech/voicefont/english.voice Make a langs directory inside the .rockbox directory on your archos and put the english.voice file into that. "Huh?" That is, the path to the english.voice file should be j:/.rockbox/langs/english.voice Assuming your archos is assigned drive letter J. Now disconnect your archos as usual, turn it on, and hit menu. You should have talking menus. Stay tuned to the rockbox list, subscription information for which is on the Rockbox site, for future improvements.
