Hi Terri. I think the default setting for fft size was
6, so if you left it there, I can see why you had
problems. Yes, sometimes I forget to select the entire
file again, I just do control z and try again. If you
can't find silence in a particular sound, perhapse you
can find it in a similar recording. Same radio, same
radio station, similar level of noise on the fm
signal. I told you I make recordings of what's going
on outside, well now it's summer and there's a
constant background of crickets day or night. I don't
want to mess that up, but I have a small 5 kb slice of
a recording I made in May that has nothing going on,
and that's sufficient to nix the sound card noise. The
noise you get is likely a combination of sound card
hiss, tape player and tape hiss, and, if you aren't
real close to the radio station, static. Good luck and
happy fourth.
Will see what kind of a recording I can get of the
fireworks tonight. I'll have to turn the mic down,
lol. I wish gold wave had an AGC on the record side.
