Hi Katrina, First, you'll need to upgrade your media player to the latest version which is 10.0
Once you have that, you can follow these instructions for ripping cd's with it. Ripping a cd to your hard drive using the windows media player Perhaps the easiest way to do this is to insert the cd into the hard drive. A dialog box will then come up and prompt you to take an action. These will range from exploring the files on the cd with the windows explorer, to burning a cd with your preferred rom burning program to ripping the cd with the windows media player or simply to take no action. Once you've chosen the rip action press enter and the cd will rip to the following folder: c:\documents and settings\my documents\my music location. If you choose to take no action and want to perform the rip manually, select the windows media player application, then tab to the firsst of the rip music buttons and press space to activate it. From this point, hit tab about 9 times to access the second rip music button and hit space on that. The tracks will be ripped to the folder named above. To perform a selective rip, once you tab to the second of the rip buttons, hit the tab key once more and you will be in the tracks listbox. By default you are at the top of it and the tracks appear in a vertical order so the down arrow moves you to each corresponding track. all of the tracks are checked by default at first. Simply uncheck the tracks you don't want to rip by hitting the down arrow and spacebar then shift-tab once to the rip button and press space on it and the selected tracks will be ripped into the my music folder.
