SoundForge has a lot more options for cleaning up a file, and the noise
reduction features allow adjustment within an option that lets you really fine
tune just how much reduction you will get. The noise gateway settings are much
more flexable too. Also, the ability to have a 20 band equalizer beats
Goldwave hands down.

I like the batch processing in Goldwave a lot, and it is particularly good on
large batches of files located in a number of folders that can all have the
same process applied at the same time without any human intervention.

Another very nice feature in Goldwave is the easy to understand and use of
marking a file and then letting Goldwave split it into separate files. this
works particularly well if you have recorded an entire record, gotten the file
down to a point where the silence between songs is really good, then Goldwave
can take over and separate the selections in the album into one file per song
very nicely, and very accurately.

As far as close editing the audio file I really don't think that the speech
user can do better than Studio Recorder. It is so easy to be so precise in
editing that eliminating one little pop that couldn't be gotten rid of any
other way is very easy to do with Studio Recorder.
