No, The market won't decide it. Some people are just desperate enough and
will pay for anything. It happens the same way in the sighted world. People
are scammed all the time paying huge amounts and then getting nothing or
very little in return.
You're right. Nobody is going to hold a gun to my head and make me pay $70
for a script, but I also have a right to state that it's highway robbery
plain and simple, like selling hammers to the pentagon.
If he can get the money for an over-priced item, more power to him.
But $70 for a script is too high. Ask your sighted friends whether they
would pay $70 for a script.
When they stop laughing in your face, perhaps you'll come to your senses and
agree.
Nobody's whining about anything here. They're just calling a spade a spade.
Why not charge $100 for it? Someone will probably be desperate enough to pay
for it.
Doesn't make it right.

Have you tried the scripts? No one is going to hold a gun to your head to
pay for them if you don't want. Notice the version is 4.0 so it looks like
Brian has convinced enough people that the work he has done is worth it.
Why do you people insist on whining about something like this? If it is
just a simple script then write them yourself and give them away if you
want. If the price is too high then the market will decide it.

The J-tunes scripts take a program which is useable with JAWS and make it an
efficient well running pleasure to use. If you don't want to pay for it
then don't but don't make stupid and unsubstantiated comments about Brian
when you haven't a clue what you're talking about.

Karl

Yeah. 20-30, but no way I am paying 70-80 for just a script no matter how
good it is.
Somehow, that reminds me when people who created accessible software used to
charge outrageous prices because they knew they could screw some agency who
would pay it. I really think this price structure should be rethought.

I too am a fan of freeware and open source software, but remember iTunes
has only just now become accessible "out of the box". You may also need
the latest versions of the screen readers as well, like the second
release of the JAWS 10 Beta, although I'm not sure about this particular
point. I'm more than willing to pay for an accessible solution when
either there isn't a free accessible solution at all or the free
solution is just a lot tougher to use. I'll also support the development
of accessible software by paying for software that's been made
accessible, although there is a limit! I'm not sure if J-Tunes is worth
the price, but it's my understanding that up until Apple released iTunes
8, you didn't have a lot of other options.

Just to come clean, I've never used J-Tunes, itunes or an iPod. For my
part, the Apple space is just too expensive and proprietary, although to
be honest, the iPod Nano 4th Generation does have me intrigued.
