Well perhaps its time to think about getting a replacement battery for your 
Iriver? They're available.

Either that or perhaps you could take a different approach that may have 
advantages over what you're using now for example an Ipod Touch.

Firstly you get more memory, then you get more accessibility, a range of docks 
and accessaries that give you the "stand line out" you're craving and finally 
bluetooth connectivity which may come in handy given the fact that - as I 
understand it - you have a hearing impairment so that way you can use a wide 
variety of connectivity solutions to interface the Ipod Touch right to your 
hearing aids thus not impacting on any audio quality.
