Richard and list: I actually do have a JVC cassette deck that has a pitch
control knob on it; it only works the first deck (it's a duel-deck well) now
I've had the deck for several years now, so I don't know if cassettes with
this sort of thing still exist, but they did at one time as I have one!
Currently, I don't have any "editing program" on my machine (oh
yes..actually I do; Goldwave) but it's a "trial version" and I've not done
anything with it yet! That's a future project somewhere down the road!

It would be easier to record, and then do any speed corection needed in
your editer of choice. I've not seen any home decks with speed control.
They may be around, but I've only seen that on 4 track mixers.

Just wondering: do these "tape decks" like you all are speaking of have
any kind of pitch control" on them? I ask because, as some of you no
doubt have discovered, not all tape decks are created equal when it comes
to speed! So if I was to get one of these USB tape decks, I fear that it
may play my cassettes either too slow or too fast!

I also have this unit. You might upgrade to the newer version of
audacity.
When I plug into my dell laptop or desktop and hit r for record the tape
audio comes through the computer.

Hi back and thanks, the Grace USB ??? is a cassette to PC player. It is
a
special player that allows you to play cassets and they are then
transfered into your com by a USB port. This device comes with Audacity
as the program to use for file editing. It also allows you to store the
files as MP3 files and this is my main effort as of now.
That is it my friend!
