hears an idea I have. we are going to start a bible study using ventrillo. one member we've contacted in the past via phone on skype. what I am hoping to do using VAC is set v1 as the default sound card but I then want to point skype to ventrillo so that the person on the phone can have input.
would I then
set ventrillo to the default sound card v1
create a second line v2 and set skype to that
then set the audio retriever to have v2 input and output to v1?

The only thing better than good friends is God! but good friends with strawberry shortcake is the next besst thing to that!.

Depending on how complicated you wanted the set-up, you might need to
configure a couple of virtual audio cables. Alternatively, you could simply
make virtual audio cable1 as Windows default sound device then set up an
Audio repeater instance like this:
* input could be virtual audio cable1 and get NVDA to use that virtual audio
cable1;
* output would be whatever sound device you desired such as USB headphones
etc.
You then would tell your recording device to record from virtual audio
cable1 as this should have NVDA and other sounds mixed into it. Audio
repeater would be how you would monitor what you are recording. Remember if you configure any audio based programs to use virtual audio cable1 as above,
it will be mixed in with all of the other things set to use virtual audio
cable1. As with anything, it pays to experiment and observe.

I will if I can figure out how to hear my output. I was thinking to
demonstrate Audio Repeater than get NVDA to speak through virtual audio
cable. Any ideas without causing terrible loopback effects? Please advise.
Thanks!

David, if it is so simple, would you be so kind as to write a guide

I'd love to know how to use the thing, it looks damn useful.

It's simpler. Not sure about better yet. I never got the hang of
Virtual Audio Cable.

I found an interesting program/driver combination over on another
list.
It is basically a virtual audio card. It allows you to basically
do what Stereo Mix could offer in XP, but perhaps more. This is
especially useful for Vista and later users, or XP users whose
sound card does not support Stereo Mix. Free trial with "trial"
noise, whatever that is, added as part of the evaluation's
limitations, available at www.virtualaudiostreaming.net. The
program is called Virtual Audio Streaming.
