I used one called Remote Speakers. It is quite accessible, and comes with a winamp output plugin, so you can airplay directly from Winamp. I am finding that using airplay is quite problematic. I am using this little device called the Lario HD Music receiver, which is one of those adapters that plugs into a 30-pin dock to give it airplay functionality. It plays OK the first time, but within a few seconds of audio stopping, it disappears from the airplay list. This happens with the computer program or phone. I emailed their suppport and got a replacement, but this one exhibits the same behavior. Is the problem my wifi router, or does the firmware in the device have some bug that crashes it upon audio stop? If I want to start playing again, I might have to then replug it several times before it shows up again.

Okay well i'm not sure what you're referring to here.

Airfoil is only used if you're planning to stream audio from your computer, that is to say audio from your computer from sources other than iTunes which has airPlay built-in.

I've been using Airfoil for the last 5 years and had no problems whatever, sure the Windows version takes a little getting used to but again, if you have a little patience you can easily look up and learn the shortcut keys.

Ar never looked into Airplay devices. I fiddled around with Airfoil and think the idea is cool but don't have a hardware device to really try it out.

I have the Bose Soundlink Air here, a real treasure box.

Course the nice thing about that speaker is that it not only sounds good but its totally portable with a rechargeable battery fitted so take it anywhere and get ready to groove! just amazing what Bose have done with that thing.

Given its size stereo separation isn't a problem so all you have to do is to sit back and enjoy.

Bose have a couple of new models in the Soundtouch Air series, one is a portable and the other two are designed for rooms however the software isn't accessible so all you can really do with them is to "airPlay" stream to them so given that - if you were considering something with airPlay capabilities from Bose - then you'd be best off with the Soundlinke Air.

Talking of speakers and speaker docks has anyone tried any from Bose or Sonus? My father recommends these brands and I will research myself. This is for an upcoming 30th birthday present of mine. Sure there are others and please feel free to share these. But I have heard a Bose Radio and was very impressed with it so much so I am looking into acquiring Bose equipment starting off with wireless speakers. Also has anyone heard of a device from Bose that connects to a TV and supposedly brings the sound to the whole room? Any or all comments are welcome. Thanks!
