Dear PCA users,
I have been informed that Solaris 10 has gone into extended support on
February 1st 2018. This means that you will not be able to download
(new) patches for Solaris 10 anymore with your standard Oracle Premier
Support.
The blog article at
https://blogs.oracle.com/solaris/oracle-solaris-10-support-explained
tells you which options you have:
1) Continue your Oracle Premier Support for Systems or Oracle Premier
Support for Software subscription and migrate to Oracle Solaris 11 free
of charge.
2) Transition to Oracle Solaris 10 Extended Support and be entitled to
continue to receive updates as you already have been.
3) Transition to Oracle Solaris 10 Sustaining Support. You will be
entitled to patches that were available as of January 31, 2018. So, even
if your systems aren't quite up to date, you will be able to update them
to those fixes in the future.
4) Discontinue Oracle Solaris 10 Support.
Best regards,
Martin.
Just a small update in case someone else runs into a problem with
downloads from the MOS. The wget built into Solaris 10 is pretty
old and crusty. I mean the default one at /usr/sfw/bin/wget and
the certificate needs to be ignored if you try to set PCA_WGET to
that old wget. Thus --no-check-certificate needs to be passed as
an option.
