A cold and windy day in Newport for the first day of the College
Sailing/Laser Performance Men's Singlehanded National Championship.
Sailors braved temps in the 40's (without the wind chill) and a
westerly breeze between 14 and 20 knots with some puffs in the mid
20's. Lots of capsizes and 6 races sailed on W4 courses. One protest
was filed resulting in a DSQ and one redress was given for a
breakdown. Thanks to judges Peter Johns, John Pratt, and Anderson
Regio. A huge thanks to Salve Regina University and all the Brown
Sailors for running the races.
Greg Martinez from Georgetown leads after the first day. First race
scheduled for 10:30am on Saturday.
