Sunday, November 10
-------------------

The final day of the College Sailing/Laser Performance Men's
Singlehanded National Championship brought warmer temperatures and
great conditions. Temps were in the 50's and winds were from the
Southwest at 12-18 knots with a strong flood tide for most of the
races. Five of the final six races were sailed on W4 courses, and the
last race (#18) was a W5 course. No protests or breakdowns.

Thanks to our great team of judges: Peter Johns, John Pratt, Kerry
Sullivan, Elizabeth Barry, and Anderson Reggio. A huge thanks to
everyone who helped run the event: Salve Regina University and their
Head Coach John Ingalls, Colin Smith (Brown '13), Grace Adam, and all
of the Brown Sailors (Peter Bailey, Reid Secondo, James Barry, and
Nicole Quattrocchi). Thanks to Marlow Ropes, our supporting sponsor,
who provided mainsheets to all of the competitors, and to Team One
Newport and Martha Pitt for providing winter hats to all of the
competitors and support at the event. Huge huge thanks to our title
sponsor, Laser Performance, and LP Representative Nick Ewenson who
provided 36 awesome boats and support for the event. Nick was on the
water helping with any boat issues and moving marks as well and we
cannot thank him enough. Thanks to everyone who supplied coach boats:
Jack McGuire provided his J-29, Brian Swingly and the Coast Guard
Academy, Bill Healy and Zack Leonard from Yale, Mike O'Connor and Bern
Noack from Harvard, Pearson Potts Sr. provided two powerboats, Pieter
Taselaar provided his 38' powerboat on Saturday, and Sail Newport
provided three powerboats. Thank you ICSA President Mitch Brindley for
coming out and being the ICSA Representative and keeping the coaches
in line. And lastly, thanks to Brad Read, Kim Hapgood, Anderson
Reggio, and Sail Newport for allowing us to host the event at their
incredible venue during a difficult time of year and for all of their
support.

Congratulations to Greg Martinez '16 from Georgetown who led
throughout the event and wins the Glen S. Foster Trophy as the College
Sailing Men's Singlehanded National Champion. Juan Perdomo '17 from
Harvard finished second and Enrique Arathoon '16 from the College of
Charleston finished third.
