Saturday, March 22
------------------
Twelve women’s teams were welcomed to the J. Stewart Walker Sailing
Complex for the 2014 Charleston Women’s Regatta. High pressure
ushered in an abundance of sunshine, no wind, and many rounds of corn
hole. Anxious and hungry to sail, teams launched their FJs and 420s at
12:25 and racing was underway on Crab Bank shortly thereafter.
Six 13-15 minute races were completed using W4s in a 6-8 knot sea
breeze and ebbing tide which forced the India code flag to remain
flying. Course 5 was utilized after swapping fleets in a building
southerly breeze for the much anticipated last set of the day. Racing
was tight however no protests were filed thanks in part to a seasoned
team of judges including Becky Bestoso ’10, Brooks Clark ’13, and
George Prieto.
