Sir,
DO NOT use ANY other adapter than the one that goes with the modem (you
can get a replacement at your local area Radio Shack for $20). I made
this mistake with my scanner, and, not only did it not work, but, when I
finally did get the original PSU back, the scanner was fried...needless
to say, I was not happy. Those current ratings have to be EXACT as the
internal circutry os not rated or designed to handle any more OR any less.
