PM8500, 224MB RAM, OS 9.04, G3 Crescendo card, video card (can't recall brand) 3
hard drives, 4.5, 2, and 2GBs.

The system folder is on the 4.5 main hard drive. Currently I have a bizarre
problem whenever I want to install an application. Sometimes the installation
works but when I reboot the computer I get as far as the OS picture or sometimes
the desktop picture before the computer freezes or simply just stops completing
startup. Sometimes the installation won't complete which is what happened to my
PageMaker application. I can however install anything on the other two drives
and then drag and drop onto the bigger hard drive.

After several attempts to install some software I got a warning that the hard
drive was damaged and some files may have been lost so I needed to run Disk
Doctor. Unfortunately, I recently lost my Norton's Utilities Disk, had the
latest one, it might have been stolen, but anyway I ran Apple's Disk First Aid
and got a message that Mountcheck found serious errors and that Disk First Aid
can't fix the drive. I had DiskWarrior but can't seem to figure out how to get
it to work. I was so used to booting off the Norton's and running Disk Doctor
after making the CD the start up disk. I feel a bit lost!

Any help will be greatly appreciated. I know I can work around the install
problem by using the back up drives but I hate it when things don't work right.

Linda
