I like my Beige G3 desktop due to it's versatility. It's what the
performa's should have been. You can use IDE and if you get Rev B ROM
, you can do master /slave. You still have the ADB/scsi/serial ports,
plus you have 3 pci slots for expansion (although the scsi port
should have been at least scisi 2). RAM is dirt cheap: $26 for 256MB
and you have 3 slots. It has a ZIF processor and I just upgraded it
to 466mhz for $200 using a motorola processsor which doesn't require
any software driver and with its 66mhz bus speed, it soars. VirtualPC
4 running win95 works great. It runs mp3's without any stuttering.
These will especially be winners when the price goes down. They still
seem to be in $500 range, give or take.

My 7300 has served me well and the sonnet G3/400/1 worked flawlessly
but it's time to sell it. These were great machines: 7600, 7500, etc.
Always did like the design. I actually prefer a desktop model and you
can't get a desktop model, unless you want to get an iMac. But I
would keep my 7300 before I would get an iMac. I just don't
understand the appeal of them; and I really couldn't understand the
early ones with only USB. I would never buy a computer without PCI
slots.
