I got the Maxtor when I bought the XLR8, I don't know how to
test the speed but I do all my burning on the maxtor.
(partitioned the HD into 5 smaller drives) everything is smooth,
burning at 16x. And copying files back and forth is very quick.
Also the VPC4 is on the Maxtor running AutoCad with no problems.
Also what did it cost you to

Never kept track, it was done over a year span and was a group
effort. Childern chipped in on different upgrades. I will have
to sit down and run the numbers.
