My experience was that OS 8.6 was a better Operating System
than OS 8.5. My advice would be to move directly to 8.6 if you
decide to upgrade.
And, yes, OS 8.6 is much better than 8.1, in my opinion. I
still have many of our computers running 8.6 because it works so well.
