I have been accused of being a purist, but I don't install
one OS and then upgrade to another (I been doing this too long. Don't
have the time or energy any more for all night computer trouble
shooting sessions). My advice to you is to buy OS 8.6 on the CD,
wipe the hard drive(S) clean using drive setup on the OS 8.6 CD, and
install from the OS 8.6 CD.
Just my eccentric two cents worth.
