I have a Power Macintosh 7200/120; OS 9.0; Memory 96MB;
PowerPC 601; Internal HD 1.19GB; external drive 810 MB. The
external is a Quantum drive, about 95% full.
Although I can open the Quantum and see the files, I can't
open the files. I've tried opening from within the
applications and still no luck. I've rebuilt the desktop,
zapped the pram, and burned candles. Disk First Aid said the
drive was OK. Norton gets about halfway through examining
the disk, finishes with partitions and directories, but
stops at about 80% completion of media and 50% completion on
files/desktop.

I ran the Tech Tools Integrity Test and a host of other
tests but no indication of the nature of the problem. When I
try to open a file, it seems to recognize the application,
but the file itself doesn't open.

I would appreciate any advice you may be able to offer.

Thanks -

Dave
