No, the Sonnet software package is not responsible for the Tempo ATA 66 card
working, the compatibility is in the flash ROM on the PCI card. I know this
because for a joke I installed X retail from a friends CD to prove a point.
I installed the OS to prove that it is Quartz that causes the most slowdown
in the OS, that and badly written programs. Anyway, I digress, my system is
a 7300/180Mhz 604e/384Megs of RAM/2Gig SCSI II/20Gig Maxtor ATA 100 attached
to a Tempo PCI card. I installed X on the Maxtor drive using the Old World
system patches from the Darwin project and no extra software, it worked like
a charm.

USB support is iffy in older machines so the software from Sonnet is
probably based on the Darwin project which works on selected USB cards.

Later,

John
