Well so far the fix has been to place the adapti 2100ez into a firewire case
and run it that way.  The error message and the draw have not been a problem
in three days now.  It was all day long before when it was connected
internally.

I reinstalled my OEM 8x CD for my 4400 kept the CD/DVD apple driver and use
the Toast Firewire driver and all seems to be well.

Thought I did write to the author of the hybrid toast/CD/DVD drivers but
have not heard any response from him..  but looks like now I don't need it.

And as for the firmware update, I tried using the Firewire update from
Yamaha but it would not recognize the drive.

So as it goes everything SEEMS to be fine.
