With the retaining clip down, looking into the plug from the 'wires go in
here' end, left to right, normal cable is:

Orange/White, Orange, Green/White, Blue, Blue/White, Green, Brown/White, Brown

both ends.

A crossover has at the 'other' end:

Green/White, Green, Orange/White, Brown, Brown/White, Orange, Blue/White, Blue

There are other schemes - essentially, if the ends match it's _not_ x-over.
