The internal SCSI Bus 0 is a separate bus from the external SCSI Bus 1, 
each with their own drivers( and separate connectors on the mother 
board_)

With no external devices connected to the external SCSI connector, there 
is  built-in , internal termination for that Bus 1.

When you plug in the external SCSI cable it automatically opens this 
internal termination,and you then must supply Bus 1  termination via 
either  Device jumpers or via an active type terminator.
The basic rule to remember is: only the last device in the external 
string is terminated. A single device is the last device
