I just got a 8/4/24 Yamaha SCSI Internal drive from
<http://www.compgeeks.com> for $80. So far it works great. I mounted it
in an external enclosure but it could be mounted internal to the computer.

If you replace the internal drive with a CDRW you can have a few problems.
While the drive will fit there may be problems with the eject button (or
there may not). You can of course remove the cover plate. The Audio
connector may or may not work correctly. I THINK the Yamaha drive I have
would work with the standard audio cable but I haven't tested it. Finally
the drive isn't bootable so if you need to boot from CD-ROM you'll need to
reinstall the original drive or attach an external bootable drive.

I'm leaving it external so I can move it from system to system if I want.
Mainly I'm keeping it attached to an 840AV that has a dedicated 2Gb drive
for building CD-ROMs and CDRWs.
