In my youth, I had the ultimate sign of Geekdom - a leather belt
holster for my German-made full size wooden slide rule.
For the science fair one year back then I built a relay-based
electronic game of Farmer-Fox-Goose in a *huge* breadboard box from
Heathkit - come to think of it, my teacher that year ('66? '67?)
discouraged me from pursuing electronic game development, saying that
no-one in their right mind would waste time on such "toys." If I had
only ignored her!
Going up in the years, the other day I uncovered a boxfull of
cassette tape programs for the old Commodore VIC-20 - wonder where I
left that balky tape player at...
