>Exactly what kind of internal scsi hard drive is compatible with my >7600... and how many >Pins?
Internal bus on x500 Macs is Narrow 50 pin SCSI-2, 10MB/sec. There are two bays in a 7600, each with 50-pin connectors to the internal SCSI bus. If present, the internal CDROM also shares this bus. External bus is SCSI-1 5MB/sec. >Will an ULTRA 2 WIDE S.C.S.I III 68 PIN 7200 RPM fit? If you buy a 68-to-50 pin adapter that _happens_ to work with that _particular_ drive, a SCSI-3 Ultra Wide 160M/sec will operate crippled at 10M/sec on the internal 7600 bus. I am NOT an advocate of SCSI adapters. I have one that won't allow my 7500 or 9500 to recognize any of my eight 68-pin drives, but the adapter works fine on my pro audio HD recorder for the same drives. >Can I add a 2nd internal scsi hard drive without messing with the >original? Yes. Make certain the second drive's SCSI ID setting is not the same as the original drive ID, which is likely ID 0. -- m. g. gadzikowski | [EMAIL PROTECTED] -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
