All-

Just thought I would drop a note to say that Ryan Rempel's "Unsupported
Utility X" is the coolest thing to hit my computer in a long time. I have a
9600/350 (MachV) at home (17GB HDD, 304MB RAM), and I've been wanting a
machine to install X on. I didn't really want to use an upgrade processor,
they just seem so expensive, and I kind of like my processor, seeing as how
it's the last of a generation and all. This weekend I decided to see how it
would run....

Anyway, with just a few extra mouse clicks (like 3) I was off and running
installing OS X. After the install, it immediately ran fine with no
tweaking. After I upgraded to X.1, it runs even better. I really couldn't
be happier, running an OS so modern, with such a heavy GUI on a machine that
has already passed it's fourth birthday (okay, with lots and lots more RAM).

'Props' to Apple, for making such a rocking machine and OS (supported or
not, it runs great); Ryan Rempel, for making the utility that made it
happen; to the PCI Powermacs list, for keeping me in touch with things like
this (I'd have never heard of this Utility otherwise, I'm sure) and as
always to Dan Knight/LEM for hosting the list.
