My suggestion

Since RAM  seems to be your only restraint ; leave OS9 installed and go to
Velocity Upgrades and for about $29 buy/install  a 128MB DIMM RAM upgrade
"stick" ( for a total  built-in RAM of 160 MB)

Then you can enjoy the full benefits of OS9.1 vs "stone age" OS8.5/6
