What type of DIMM is it?  maybe someone here could tell you if it was the
wrong kind...

Did you reset the CUDA switch after installing the RAM?  I seem to remember
that in the RAM installation instructions that came with my 6400 they
recommended doing this after installing any new hardware.

Also might want to try some other free and easy fixes, pulling the battery,
resetting the PRAM (preferably with something like TechTool that does it
right) etc.
