Cell is the choice for mobile internet access, not for home access. At home, your choices in order of relative speed are:
1)T1/T3/etc. 2)SDSL 3)ADSL 4)Cable 5)ISDN 128k 6)Two-way satellite (Satellite and ISDN 128k may be transposed, depends on weather and your location in relation to satellite) 7)ISDN 64k 8)One-way satellite (Again, depends on weather and location. In some circumstances, much rarer than Two-way satellite/ISDN, 112k and 56k is faster at ping, slower at raw transfer; ISDN 64k is _much_ faster at ping, slower at raw transfer) 9)112k modem (Two phone lines, two modems, called Shotgun access, may not be supported on Mac...) 10)56k modem or slower 11)Cell phone 12)HAM radio w/packet radio attachment (Depends on price: higher priced units may be faster than cell depending on range, and there is no usage charge. Varies by area) Cell phone and HAM is not recomended for home internet use as they are unrelilable and fairly to very expensive. With satellite internet, much like satellite TV, you are at the mercy of the weather. One-way satellite also has a tendency to time out on file transfers and has horrendous ping times; the ping times are actually worse than your normal 56k/112k modem ping times.
