Don't know for sure. However, MacOS installs usually look at the machine type before the system is installed. The 8100 is a NuBus arcitechture, 601 PPC generation machine. The 8500 is a PCI architecture, 604 PPC generation machine.
The operating system probably doen't know where to look for all services. Trash the system folder and reinstall MacOS 8.6.
