Hello This procedure is OK, provided that your box case is truly connected to AC house ground thru the third prong of the power cable Check it out , with AC power OFF to the box of course, using a multimeter(ohms). Connect one lead to the bax case and the other lead directly to the cener screw on the house 120V receptacle cover plate.. Measure "zero" ohms.
