I can't find a V5 5000 period. I'm not in the US. :(
Your $30 more, means nothing to me. I translates to
an extra $100-$120 of your dollars here
I have spent 2 weeks looking for something kinda
decent for around $100us and the V3 seems to be it.
Should have allowed more time.
The V3 is new (FWIW) and I have a video challenged
7220 which the V3 can go into, should a better card
become available.
I'm aware of the limitations regarding apple specific
programs and hope that boosting the onboard vram
will make some difference as the V3 wont.
Seems V5 owners agree with you and dont list them
on ebay often. I will keep looking for pci video cards
but with a G4 coming home at the end of the year
I really could put the money towards something more
modern, cheaper and more advanced than a V5. :)
Hope that helps you understand. You sure pointed
out some limitations of the V3 compared to the V5.
I would follow your advice regarding the V5 or one
of the newer ATI cards but both funds and time are
against me.
Thanks for your objective and non-objective views :)
