Grizzlygiant1, laugh at my expense. The V3 was delivered, and it was a 3000, well a 3000's box. Second-hand but didn't realize until the present was opened. Installed the card, (Yes I did the CUDA, thanks for asking.) flashed the rom and installed the beta 13 3dfx extensions. Shutdown and connected a monitor, rebooted and got a desktop. :)
Changing the screen size from 640x480 to 800x600 caused the monitor to loose sync. As the control panel is displayed on the second screen I found it very hard to change back. In the end, hooking up a newer monitor displayed a desktop at 800x600. So back to the control panel Under the 2d tag the only option was "basic". No real surprise there. Under the 3d tag the only option was "normal" which I thought was a little weird. Under profiles tag, well I don't know as the mac froze requiring a hard reset. On startup the 3dfx extn now sports a unhappy X through it. After trying afew ways of restoring, degrading or reflashing I'm no closer to having the card function again on the mac. So I have reflashed the original intel bios rom. Installing the card into a pc freezes the machine. Thats enough. During the conversation with the seller he expressed his dismay that the card was secondhand and will replace it or refund the cost. The card has been used as there's a coating of dust over the track side of the board, fingerprints all over the chrome mounting strip and insert marks on the monitor connector before I installed one. I count myself as lucky to have bought the card through a business that will change or refund the money as opposed to trying my luck on ebay buying unsupported cards to flash to the mac. Sorry for the long post. grizzlygiant1 wrote: >They are in Canada and have "new' V5 5000s. > >>I can't find a V5 5000 period. I'm not in the US.
