In my work environment I have to interact with PCs and all the issues of Internet (in)security that are related to Windows. Along the way I ran across a fantastic product called AdSubtract (www.adsubtract.com) that is a killer application for those endless pop-up/under ads (such as x10.com, grrrrr!), controlling/managing cookies, and ALL other ads that seem to appear everywhere you don't want them to appear. Cost: $29.95 ($19.95 within 3-days of download of the Pro version trial) -- the BEST money you will ever spend on a utility.
I've written to the software publisher -- Intermute, Inc. -- www.intermute.com with an encouraging request that the product be ported to Mac. They are also working on SpamSubtract (www.spamsubtract.com) that has great promise. I've asked them for that on the Mac platform, also -- and requested that it provide a bounce feature to short-circuit the spammer's process.
