I, along with many Beige G3 users have complained about how noisy the 24x ide CD rom that came with it is. Mine was so noisy that I never liked playing audio CD's in it. I eventually bought an Apple 48x CD rom which I am very happy with. It is very quiet. But I recently found this Digital Dual pent III 333 workstation and since it didn't have a CD rom in it, I decided to put that same Apple 24x ide CD rom in it. I loaded up WinXP in it and believe it or not but it is as quiet as could be. Sounds just like a normal CD rom. Seems odd. I'm guessing that the case design could not tolerate the slightest wobble, whereas the tower has no problem with it. I image the original Beige G3 towers did not have noisy CD roms. They would have the same 24x CD rom, I would think
