If that's the sole reason you want a PC card, you might be better off checking out VNC. You could have your dad run the server, and there are viewer apps for Mac. I've been running XP for awhile now but have never had the need to try the remote desktop, so I can't compare features, but VNC is free :) And it's even usable over dialup.
