RD comes free with XP Pro, which I got a 50 rebate on because I was an
early adopter (and resultantly and early abandoner!) so I don't have any
money issues. Compared to RD, VNC sucks because it uses video mirroring,
we have found it hopelessly slow on Macs. What VNC software do you use?
RD uses Windows API calls instead of mirroring the image on the screen
(hence why it only works in Windows) which makes it VERY fast even on a
modem. It also means it does not rely on the graphics chip/card of the
server to build the screen, it builds it client-side using the clients
card and monitor, this means it can run at whatever your client runs at,
not what the server is set at. Much as I loathe to embellish dear old
Bill it is damn clever and very well implemented.
