I used a 7200/90 with dial-up internet, Netscape and Claris Emailer, I think I had CompuServe on it too--worked great for years, until I upgraded to 7600 but I'm still using 8.6. I've never used MSN Messenger, but I agree with the other poster that that's likely where the problem originates.
I'd try giving her some more RAM if possible, for starters. Bump up the amount of RAM each app uses--for example, my Netscape is assigned 35 MB. That might help.
