Bill, My 6500/250 has a 33.6 modem and the fastest I ever connected when I used to use dial-up (AOHell) was 31.2 (though often it was slower than that) and I ran 8.1 most of the time. I recently upgraded to 8.6, but I now use cable. My 2� John
