Would it help if I moved the PC Card away from the 604e? It's
currently back-on to it in slot 1 (the manual specifically asks you

I put my PC cards in the slot away from the CPU, and it seems to work OK.

I dunno what the CPU temperature of my 604e is, does GuagePro or
anything like that return a temperature for stock CPU Cards?

The G3 and later machines incorporate an on-chip temperature sensor; the
earlier CPUs do not.

The best way to test a cooling system is to have two good thermometers, one
in the ambient air and the other in the machine's exhaust duct.

The fan which gives the lowest temperature rise is the best.
