If you have a few hundred like me, reduce them and put them into folders in your bookmarks, usually works faster and it starts up faster. My Netscape sometimes quits on launching while loading the bookmarks file. I then put the Bookmarks.html from the prefs folder onto the desktop and start up Netscape, then quit it again and place the bookmarks file back, then start it up again and reduce the bookmarks, that works for a while until the bookmarks list has grown again. Write down you settings and/or make a screenshot of all you prefs before you trash your prefs so that you know what to re-fill after you trash the prefs.
