Simple: clean the head on removeable cartridges, and wiper/park station on left where print carridge parks: (HP, Lexmark, Xerox and canon). Epson, toss. The epson's head is part of printer assembly and costs about 100 or more just for that part excluding labor. For that reason I had to resort to forceful cleaning on epsons with length about 12" of hobby model fuel line hose and 10cc injecter barrel, injecting in windex then water alterately to blow out clogs. Remove the top cover by four philips screws. Fit the hose over the snout of the injecter. It's very smug fit. Fill the injector by pulling on plunger w/ other end in the liquid to 8cc or so. Fit all the way in of filled thing other hose end over the pricking pin and hold it in place while injecting firmly. Not doing that holding thing, that hose will pop off that prick pin and spray everywhere, ruin the electronics on the head itself. Do it while head is in parked position. Without the cover in place, refit the ink tanks, do few purging cycles. Usually two to three, this consumes ink copiously. and turn off then printer on w/ ink cartridge button held in for few seconds to get test print on paper. Any gaps in the steps is your clogged jets, each step is one jet. To free the head on epson so you can move it manually, turn off printer and wait few seconds for capacitors to discharge, push head right, then rotate big white gear wheel on left side of that printer in that way makes paper move out forwards. This moves the wiper/lock thing forward freeing the head. So you can inspect the park/cleaning station to your heart's content and clean if needed. Clean park/cleaning station is key to success of keeping clogs away mostly most especially on epsons and true on all inkjet printers of any types. Blowing out clogs on removeable cartridges with printhead built in is easy: there is a breath hole on top usually in center, cartridge's top to your mouth w/ folded paper towel in quarters on head's inkjet nozzle. Blow firmly beliefly. Clean the dried crusts off that head w/ dampened paper towel of warm water first before doing this. Ink stains on your hands and clothings accidently, ink is water-solute. So have no fear. Only thing that will stain is your skin. That will wash out in one or three days. If you prefer not to get skin stained, get few pairs of vinyl surgical gloves in your size. You can get them from decent sized drug stores locally. Cheers, Wizard > > Thanks, > Maria -- PCI-PowerMacs is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
